“Vocalist Persia Brokensha, backed by a fine quartet led by guitarist George Grifsas,
delivered a cabaret-style version of the blues.”

John McBeath – The Advertiser

BLUES ROYALE… a show represents all that was lush & swinging of the style of blues that soothed the soul.

Through song, dialogue & some famous stories, it traces some very famous divas & some complete unknowns from the early 1930‘s through to the present day.

Performed by Persia Brokensha, BLUES ROYALE tells tales of love, losses, addiction & back-stage antics. It broadly explores the blues genre, its rich history & loose morals.

Stories of the women & their chart successes & failures will help define the meaning of Blues Royale and who is it’s queen. With her own interpretation, Persia will take you on a unique journey through a genre that defined the vocal passions of generations that followed this era. The healing tones & sassy presentation will leave any sober audience feeling tipsy.

BLUES ROYALE contains the music of Etta James, Aretha Franklin & Nina Simone, through to less-famous but equally influential Bessie Jackson, Koko Taylor, Dinah Washington, Mahalia Jackson, Ernestine Andersen & Jill Scott. Some gospel roots, a lot of late night jazz & old fashioned blues all with plenty of swing.

BLUES ROYALE, as a show, is presented in a salon feel that lends itself wonderfully to table cabaret seating evoking atmosphere as it would have been in those old
